Confectionery

Many essential oils used in confectionery products such as as toffees, hard-boiled sweets, chocolate based candies, crackling pops and digestive sweets etc.

Peppermint, lemon and orange essential oils are commonly used to flavor desserts, candies and chocolate. Other, more herbal oils, such as thyme and rosemary may be better suited to flavoring savory dishes like soups and stews.

Essential oils are the highly concentrated, volatile, aromatic essences of plants. These natural plant oils are appreciated for both their aromatic and flavoring qualities. Many essential oils such as peppermint, lemon and orange are commonly used to flavor desserts, candies, chocolates and many more confectionery products. When processed in a particular way, they are safe to use in cooking, much like you may use vanilla or almond extract. You can find a wealth of essential oils online, but some pharmacies also stock food-grade oils.

Essential oils are generally effective at low dosages, enabling the use of concentrates and making the product more cost-effective to transport. Another increasingly important to today’s consumer benefit is the natural appeal of essential oils, which can be 100% natural. Essential oils also sometimes perform better than flavors which can have issues of solubility in high fat content products, such as chocolate. Essential oils also perform extremely well in sugar free products, masking the effects of non-nutritive sweeteners.

The essential oils used in the confectionery items not just add taste and fragrance to the items, but also have many health benefits too. These oils make one's immune system strong and also help prevent diseases.
