Steam Distillation Method

The most popular method for obtaining essential oils from plants using steam, light pressure and controlled temperature.

01

Plant-Based Extraction

Steam is passed through plant material to release essential oils from microscopic protective sacs naturally.

02

Temperature Sensitive

This method is suitable for natural aromatic compounds that are sensitive to high temperature processing.

03

Pure Essential Oils

Effective distillation can produce potent, pure and aromatic essential oils with beautiful natural attributes.

How Steam Distillation Works

Steam distillation is widely used for extracting essential oils from plants. During the process, steam passes through the plant material and helps release the essential oil.

It is commonly used when one of the immiscible liquids is water. This technique is helpful for purifying liquids that may decompose or lose quality at their normal boiling points.

Steam distillation usually takes place between 140°F and 212°F. Different plants require different pressure levels, processing times and temperatures for effective extraction.

Why Steam Distillation Is Preferred

Steam distillation helps preserve natural aromatic properties while producing high-quality essential oils.
