Description : Boldo oil, which has been extracted from the leaves of Peumus boldus, relates to Monimiaceae family. The concern elements of Boldo essential oil are a-pinene, b-pinene, p-cymene, limonene, linalool, y-terpinene, camphene, ascaridole and 1,8-cineole. Ascaridole is known for its toxic nature. This oil is used to disgestive and liver problem and cure stomach, also used to support gallbladder and upset stomach. Being a highly toxic, it should be used under an expert’s supervision and should not be used under for the aromatherapy. The research shows that even a tiny dose creates convulsions. The oil is extracted though steam distillation process. This oil has yellow color with an unpleasant odor.
