Description : Kewda (Pandanus odoratissimus) hydrosol is hydrodistilled from its flowers. It is prominently used in the food industry due to its characteristic aroma. It is a transparent liquid, almost similar to rose water. Although pandanus trees grow almost everywhere in tropical Asia, kewra water is still mainly a Northern Indian flavouring that is not used anywhere else.

Constituents : The major components of the hydrodistilled kewda oil are 2-phenyl ethyl methyl ether (37.7%), terpinen-4-ol (18.6%), -terpineol (8.3%) and 2-phenyl ethyl alcohol (7.5%) |
Uses : Kewra hydrosol floral water is used for getting glow, soft & healthy skin. In Western cooking, kewra water makes a fine alternative to the flower essences like rose or orange essence
