Description : Benzoin is fairly medicinal smelling at the finish while vanilla is more of a musky spicy sweet fragrance. Benzoin is much less expensive than pure vanilla or amergris for that matter, so it is used quite often in the fragrance industry as a sweet warm bottom note to round the scent out.


Constituents : Benzoic acid, vanillin and coniferyl benzoate.


Uses : Benzoin absolute oil is used to help relieve and soothe minor irritation of the nose, throat, and airways (e.g., laryngitis, croup) when it is mixed with hot water and the steam is inhaled.


Benefit : Benzoin absolute oil can be benefited as an antidepressant, carminative, cordial, deodorant, disinfectant, and a relaxant. It also functions as a diuretic, expectorant, antiseptic, vulnerary, astringent, anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic, and a sedative substance.
