Description : Cubeb is a plant in genus Piper, cultivated for its fruit and essential oil. It is mostly grown in Java and Sumatra, hence sometimes called Java pepper. Cubeb definition is - the dried unripe berry of a tropical shrub (Piper cubeba) of the pepper family that is used as a spice. Cubeb essential oil is extracted from the dried Cubeb berries through steam distillation method. This plant is botanically called as Piper cubeba and is a limb of the pepper family Piperaceae.

Uses : Cubebs essential oil used for increasing urination to relieve water retention (as a diuretic). it can also used to treat a certain parasitic infection in the intestines and intestinal gas, gonorrhea, and cancer. It is also used in Ayurvedic formulations for treating impotence, tastelessness, asthma, inflammation, piles, indigestion and menstrual problems.
